Tio Pepe's: Best Sangria in Baltimore!
Who doesn't love a good sangria?!? If you are ever up for a unique, one-of-a-kind dining experience then Tio Pepe's in downtown Baltimore is where to go! My "Boo" and I were driving around after dinner one Saturday evening during Restaurant Week. We were looking for somewhere else to go for dessert or an after dinner drink. We turned down Franklin Street and I immediately saw the bright red awning.
It suddenly brought back memories of the first time I'd gone there. I decided to speak up and tell my Boo about the restaurant's famous sangria. That was all he needed to hear. We went back around the block and parked in the lot across the street.
I have to say the first time I went was for my 40th birthday weekend several years ago and it absolutely blew me away! The food was DELICIOUS. It didn't look like much on the plate, but don't let it fool you. It was spectacular and to this day quite memorable. Dessert options weren't to my liking, but I tell you what was...the SANGRIA! Hope you're not a "light weight" because it is definitely no punk. Tio Pepe's sangria is the real deal!
Tio Pepe's is the only restaurant in Baltimore that offers authentic, homemade Spanish and Mediterranean food set in a cozy, underground cavern-like dining area. When you go downstairs and walk in, it's like you've been transported to "old world Spain."
We decided to sit at the bar and each get a glass of sangria. I showed him the famous pitcher of sangria and we tried to order one, but were told that at the bar you can only get glasses. You have to dine-in to order a pitcher. If I remember correctly, they were reasonably priced and came in small or large options.
So take it from this foodie (who used to work in the industry in a previous life) put Tio Pepe's on your "must visit" list for Baltimore restaurants!
