How Cool is "Teddy & The Bully Bar"?

Earlier this month, my cousin came in from Austin (TX) for a work conference in Washington, DC and she wanted to hook up for dinner. I am not one who loves driving in DC (in fact I detest it!), but where there's a will there's a way...and big (well, "older") cousin made it happen! After all, how often does family come out to the east coast to see Lil' ole me?!?!  Answer: RARELY!!

I took advantage of an industry association's annual meeting and holiday party in DC to leave work early, take the Metro train into the city, and meet up with my cousin and her coworker. Luckily it turned out that my meeting was right near where my cousin's hotel was in Dupont Circle. So, I asked my colleague for a nearby recommendation for dinner and she told me about "Teddy & The Bully Bar."

The restaurant is a Theodore ("Teddy") Roosevelt inspired and features American cuisine like game, steak, oysters, and drinks served in classy digs. I got there first so I decided to sit at the bar to people watch and scope out the place whiled I waited.  They seem to specialize in bourbon and whisky drinks, but they had a great selection of wines as well.

Once the girls arrived, we were seated and opted to share a bottle of red wine and three appetizers:  mac and cheese, skillet cornbread and some delicious brussel sprouts. We then ordered our entrees.

The food was absolutely amazing! Our server took great care of us the entire evening. After stuffing ourselves, we opted for one last after dinner cocktail instead of dessert. My cousin had a glass of bubbly, her coworker had another glass of wine, and I had this amazing bourbon whisky concoction.

The three of us had an fabulous time and we bonded instantly! It's always good to see family and by the end of the night I adopted another cousin...we were all in love with Teddy & The Bully Bar! Our tab really wasn't that bad either. We separated drinks and food for reimbursement reasons. All in my bill was about $80 for everything we had plus tip!

If you're ever in the area, don't miss out on a truly phenomenal culinary and spirits experience in the heart of DC! I know I can't wait to go back!
